Two programmes for a production of Ivan Rake: a Burlesque in Three Acts, produced at the Holywell Music Room in aid of the Magdalen Mission. This was a burlesque based on Sir Arthur Sullivan’s recent opera Ivanhoe, and the production was allowed to use some of Sullivan’s music. The words were by Harold Cyril Palmer Castle (matr. 1887), and the music by Harry Walter Winsloe Hall (C.1888–92), George Blake McGrath (C. 1890–4), J. G. Smith (unidentified), and Haldane Campbell Stewart (E. 1887–91; later O. 1919–38 & 1941–2). X2/16 is a programme for the entire run, which contains the complete libretto, and X2/17 a programme for the evening attended by Greene. On that night, Stewart played the drum, and McGrath the piano.
