MC:PR33/2/5C Correspondence regarding A Memorial for T. H. Toovey Hopkins

Single page, handwritten letter from Stephen G. Lee (Magdalen College, Oxford) to President Gordon regarding the fact that the plaque in memory of Thomas Henry Toovey Hopkins (died 1885) was destroyed along with the Magdalen College barge that it was affixed to. Lee wishes to recover the words from the plate and mount a memorial in the boat club about the barge that was built to commemorate Toovey Hopkins. There is a note that the letter was actioned on December 21st, 1933. See also MC:PR33/2/1X/1.

Single page, handwritten note from H. Hamersley (West Challow, Wantage, Berkshire) to President Gordon regarding the brass tablet commemorating his Uncle, T. Hoovey Hopkins and expressing his sadness at the destruction of the barge built in his memory. He writes to concur that Stephen Lee’s suggestion of a new memorial for his Uncle on the new barge would be a good idea. See also MC:PR33/2/1X/1.
