MC:F31/MS2 Notebooks containing notes on academic subjects
These notebooks contain Fletcher’s notes probably intended as an aide memoire for teaching and thus written after 1881. They are drawn from a variety of secondary texts and generally contain a table of contents at the beginning of each volume listing the texts he has used as the basis of his notes and a simple index at the rear of the notebook.

Volume, entitled ‘Early Middle Ages’. Appears to be notes on texts by Guizot, Sismondi, Church, Milman and Weber for teaching purposes. Contains genealogical trees, maps etc.

Note on front flyleaf reads ‘This notebook was begun at Dresden in the year 1880 & was added to from time to time up to the year 1892’. At rear of volume is list of students with details of work outstanding.

Volume, entitled ‘English History. 1450-1840’ containing notes as above. At front of volume are pasted extracts from University Gazette concerning changes to set texts for Constitutional History paper. A note describes the volume as ‘Interleaved note Book containing notes on (i) English History Yorkist Period (ii) Constitutional and Social History from 1640. VOL. II’. Notes are written on sheets of lined paper, interleaved into larger volume.
