Folder of papers concerning papers concerning Dodds-Parker’s dealings with the Sudan over many years. Subjects include a visit paid by Douglas and Aileen Dodds-Parker to Malta, Libya, the Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt in Oct-Dec 1960 and arrangements for lectures which he delivered on their return, reminiscences of Arnold Weinholt (1877–1940) in 1965, a visit of the Grand Kadi to London and the illness of the Sudanese Prime Minister, both in 1968, reactions to the coups in the Sudan and Libya in 1969, a letter written by Dodds-Parker in the Sudan from 1932, returned by a friend in 1969, Dodds-Parker’s dealings with the Parliamentary Anglo-Sudan Committee, his concerns about British companies in the Sudan and extracts from Sudanese newspapers in 1973 which mention Dodds-Parker.
Also included in the folder are a copy of Corona (the Journal of H.M.’s Colonial Service) for Sept 1953, which includes a review by Dodds-Parker of a book on the Sudan, a copy of the proceedings in the Sudan Parliament for 26 Dec 1955–1 Jan 1956, which includes references to Dodds-Parker representing the Crown on Independence Day, two drafts of articles written by Dodds-Parker on the Middle East after his travels there in 1960 (see above) and a copy of The Sudan Standard of 24 Apr 1973.
Correspondents include Harold Wilson, John Prescott, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, Anthony Kershaw, Anthony Royle and Lord Balniel [69 items].
