MC:P2/16/2C Correspondence on the Parker and Dodds-Parker family
MC:P2/16/2C/1 Jun 1968–Apr 1992
Bundle of letters, partly relating to finding a copy of John’s book, and partly to Dodds-Parker’s more general genealogical inquiries. Correspondents include Lord Denning [9 items].
These papers were found inside Dodds-Parker’s copy of A. H. John (ed.), Minutes relating to Messrs. Samuel Walker & Co. Rotherham (London, 1951). The Walker family intermarried with the Parkers, who became partners in the lead concern. One of the Parkers, Henry (1830–1868), was Dodds-Parker’s grandfather.
Further information on the Parker family can be found in J. Hunter, (ed. A. Gatty) Hallamshire: the history and topography of the parish of Sheffield (London, 1869), pp. 445 and 490–1.
