The Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is the College’s annual appeal to its members to support a range of projects that underpin and enrich the educational experience for students in five areas of College life:

Academic Excellence
Student Support
Buildings & Grounds
Sports & Societies
Chapel & Choir

At a time when Magdalen faces increasing financial pressure members can also opt for their gift to be used for ‘Greatest Need’, to support core services delivered by the College.

Since its launch in 2006 the Annual Fund has been used to support a wide range of projects, and the following are just a few examples:

  • Providing a significant contribution to bursaries, scholarships, and grants for students in financial need
  • Providing student travel and research grants
  • Purchasing and maintaining library books
  • Supporting the College’s resident orchestra ‘Phantasm’
  • Supporting academic seminars hosted by Magdalen Fellows
  • Providing academic travel grants for graduate students
  • Improving our I.T. facilities
  • Installing high-security storage for specialist sports equipment
  • Improving sports facilities, including resurfacing of the tennis courts and sports field fencing
  • Supporting choir tours and recordings
  • Carrying out essential building repairs
  • Providing all students with full membership of the University Sports Club

The expenditure of Annual Fund monies is reviewed by the College’s Development and Alumni Relations Committee to ensure both transparency and value for money. Every pound donated goes directly to the project you wish to support.

If you would like to make a donation to the Annual Fund, please contact Hadrian Wise in the Development Office or use the online gift form.
