Open Days and Visits

Visiting Magdalen

Potential applicants and their families are very welcome to look around Magdalen on any day between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m, or dusk (whichever is the earlier). Simply tell the porter on duty that you are a prospective applicant and you will be admitted free of charge. Please see our general visitor information, including opening hours.

Open Days

Open Days enable you to talk to our tutors in your chosen subject and to students who are already here. They also help you to get a feel for the College. Open Days are designed to help you to decide where you want to study and play no part whatsoever in our selection process.

Although Open Days coincide mainly with those of the University Science Departments, College Tutors in the Arts and Social Sciences will be talking about their subjects as well, so potential applicants in all subjects are strongly encouraged to come. For those applicants interested in Fine Art, although we will not have a tutor in College for you to meet, the Ruskin School run their own open day sessions which you can join without booking.

As college places for Open Days are limited across the University and we wish to enable as many students to attend as possible, we ask that you book a place at one college only and that you do not attend more than one Open Day. The majority of colleges will be open for visitors in the afternoons of the Open Days if you want to look around, with students and staff on hand to answer questions.

In 2012 we shall be holding Open Days for all subjects on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June. If you would like to attend one of our Open Days please complete one of the following booking forms:

If you have not booked a place on one of our Open Days, although you will not be able to attend the formal sessions offered in College, you are welcome to drop in during the afternoon between 14.00 - 16.00. Tours of the College will be run from the Auditorium foyer until approximately 15.45.

For some subjects it may be possible to attend the Meetings with Arts Tutors without having booked a formal place on our Open Day. Please contact the Admissions Secretary at admissions@magd.ox.ac.uk for further information, stating which subject you are interested in.
